In accordance with Air Force Instruction 21-101 in the listing for all abbreviations and acronyms, it lists this as the correct acronym. This has been in existence since before Apr 1984 when I entered the Air Force. I am still in and it still has not changed as I reviewed this document today. The definition you have on your website is Aircraft, Powerplant General is an incorrect listing for the USAF.
Usage: I proudly work in the 35th Aircraft Maintenance Unit APG Section at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea.
